Overview

Advanced Driver Improvement Internet Course requires twelve hours of course participation (80 minutes of which are breaks), we will be reading, answering short essay questions, fill in the blank question, watching a movie of bad choices and reviewing the concepts of safe driving in general and in Florida in particular.

The ADI Course includes sessions with a flexible structure. This course allows you to identify destructive behaviors and helps you develop alternatives so that you can change those behaviors.

The goal of this 12 hour ADI Course is to help problem drivers develop alternative behaviors to those that resulted in license suspension or revocation. Techniques are taught to accept responsibility for your actions, understand and identify the consequences of continued poor driving, and develop a plan to avoid future difficulties.

Course Content

The content of this course is designed in accordance with the minimum course content requirements as stated in Chapter 15A-8, Florida Administrative Code. Those minimum requirements are:

  1. Course Introduction
  2. Identify the major problem(s) the individual has created for themselves as a result of their driving behavior.
  3. Identify the driving habits that have caused them problems.
  4. Develop a desire to change those driving habits that are causing them problems.
  5. Learn an effective system for changing their troublesome driving habits based on an increased understanding and awareness of emotions, attitudes and personality structure and how these affect the driving habits.
  6. Application of changes in driving behavior and attitude to simulated and real driving situations.
  7. Make a firm commitment to continuously apply the change system moment by moment while driving.

Guidelines for Course

As you complete this course you have an opportunity to greatly influence your future-driving behavior. Below are the guidelines for you to follow during the presentation of this course. Those guidelines are:

  1. In order for you to successfully complete this course you must be able to read and write on at least the 7th grade level. As you go through this course you will be given a series of exercises that you will answer in a short essay format in your own words. The computer that you will use must have enough memory to run the streaming video portion of this course and you must have an email account. The feedback that you will receive during this course will be on email. When you answer a question, the answer will be sent to an instructor who will review you answer and give you additional feedback. Without email you cannot complete this course.  
  2. All answers will be short essay of a length specified by the exercise. Writing gibberish or nonsense answers will not be accepted. You cannot advance to the second day until all of the first day exercises are accepted as sufficiently answered. You cannot advance to the final exam until all of the second day exercises are accepted.
  3. The course keeps track of all answers supplied from all the students who completed the course. The program will not let you cut and paste or use someone else’s answers. Your responses must be your own. The course will not accept profanity; so do not use any.
  4. This course is a minimum of twelve (12) hours long.
